Participants will need access to a screen with good audio and ideally a microphone, in order to maximise your benefit taking part in this course.

Working with others can be difficult and developing your team’s skills and knowledge can also have its issues. This one-day course which is part of the ASE Technicians leadership programme, will help and support your leadership of others and how you communicate and work with individuals in your school to support an effective technical service. The course will also develop your training and continuing professional development skills and knowledge, so you can confidently support the development of technicians and teachers in your institution and beyond. The course content will explore, successful communication strategies, difficult conversations, developing your team, delivering effective CPD and training, coaching and mentoring and dealing with difficult people.

9.00-10.30  Successful communication

Exploring what makes communication effective, assessing what communication strategies you use, how to get the best out of other people, selling your service and running meetings.

10.30-11.00 Break

11.00-12.30 Effective relationships and difficult conversations

How to work with people with differing views to your own, working with difficult characters and what strategies to use and how to hold successful difficult conversations.

12.30-13.30 Lunch

13.30-15.00 Delivering effective CPD

How to deliver successful CPD to others in your school and college, what is good CPD, what development opportunities are there and what types of CPD could you deliver?

Whilst they are part of a series of Leadership modules, each module can be taken individually as many technicians opt to choose those particular topics that are most relevant to their career development.
