**UPDATE Dec 2024 - this title is now available for pre order via Millgate's site

ASE are excited to announce that a new edition of It’s Not Fair, written and edited by Liz Lawrence, David Allen, Alex Sinclair, Helen Sizer, Jane Turner and Lucy Wood, is due for publication this autumn.

This is a new edition of an existing and hugely popular title. It has been re-written to reflect developments in our understanding of science enquiry, its place in the curriculum and how it is taught. Though it retains much of the structure and elements that readers liked in the first edition, it is new material adapted for current teaching practices.

What’s it about?

The book is about science enquiries. It defines five different types of science enquiry carried out in the primary classroom to enable children to learn and consolidate science skills and concepts and to learn about how scientists work to establish scientific knowledge.

Who should read it?

It is a book that teachers, including trainees, and subject leaders will find useful to develop their science curriculum, pedagogy and understanding of science enquiry.

Can I see a sample?

We've compiled some sample pages, which show the development from edition 1. Please note the pages are not sequential and are a sample only.

What do the authors say about it?

‘The original edition of It’s not Fair was a product of its time. Since then, we have seen types of enquiry become embedded in the primary science curriculum and have learned a great deal about how and why science enquiries are taught and what teachers find challenging. Pulling together this knowledge and experience in a new edition has been a stimulating process of clarifying and exemplifying the different types of science enquiry. We are excited to share the result with you.’

Liz Lawrence

How much will it cost?

£26.99 full price and members price £22.99.

I’m interested – when will it be available?

The title is due for publication later this autumn. If you’d like to be notified when the book has been printed and available for purchase through our bookshop, please use our expression of interest form to send us your details.
