Many of my really ‘best’ experiments involve a lot of preparation and often specialised apparatus, but for my ‘top ten’ I have chosen experiments that are reasonably easy to set up and require simple apparatus – apparatus that should be available in every school laboratory. Four are described here and the first is No. 1 on the list.
